Today’s morning news is full of great surprises. Microsoft is launching its Windows 10 for phones preview, Sony releases its new luxurious SmartWatch and Sling TV is giving away hardware!
We have seen how Windows 10 looks and works on computers and tablets, but we haven’t been able to see how the new OS will be adapted to the smaller screen yet. This changes today as Microsoft launches the technical preview of Windows 10 for phones. How does the new software fare? You can test it yourself.
All you need is a Windows 8.1 smartphone. If you meet that qualification, simply sign up for the Windows Insider Program and download the Windows Insider app. Among other things, users should get access to full-size wallpapers, expanded Quick Actions, improved speech-to-text, an enhanced Photos app and Project Spartan’s new engine (which is currently hosted by IE).
Opinion: Are any of you guys testing this? I am very curious to see how the full Windows 10 OS is optimized for smartphones. Let us know how it works if you sign up!
Did you like the Sony SmartWatch 3 steainless steel edition we showed you at CES 2015? We did too, so we are glad to report that the device is launching this week. Sony didn’t give us too many details on price and market availability, but the news should start hitting the internet soon. We will be sure to let you know the details as they come.
What Sony did tell us is that this new device would come with a free 6-month voucher for Todoist, as would the new “holder” kit they have announced. This new holder would allow you to customize your watch with any 24 mm straps. This kit will launch in a few weeks.
Opinion: Are you guys thinking of getting a Sony SmartWatch 3 stainless steel edition? I am happy with my Pebble and Qualcomm Toq, but this is a great device if you are looking for a nice looking Android Wear unit. It’s interesting how one of the ugliest smart watches became one of the nicest by simply switching the material to metal.
The guys at Sling TV already offer a great deal to those who want to cut the chord, but they are making it even better with their latest promotions. The new company is giving away Roku Streaming Sticks and Amazon Fire TV Sticks to anyone who signs up for 3 months of Sling TV service.
This essentially takes down the price of the services to either $10 or $20 for 3 months (considering each month is $20), depending on the product you choose to get. There are also options for those who want something a bit more powerful, though.
They are also offering 50% discounts on the Amazon Fire TV and the Roku 3. These are both $100 at full price, meaning you would only have to pay $50 (aside from your 3-month Sling TV subscription) and you can walk out the door ready to stream. Get the deals from the Sling TV website or the Amazon page.
Opinion: This is really a great deal if you were already considering joining Sling TV. And if you were on the fence about it, these offers may very well push you in. If you are signing up, which device are you getting?
