Google is known as the king of self-driving cars, but the UK seems to be beating them to the curve. Meanwhile, Yezz partners with Google and BLU releases a new phone you may want to see.
Google may be the most popular for leading the self-driving vehicle movement, but theya re certainly not the only ones around. In fact, our friends in the UK are already pushing for driverless vehicles to hit the streets.
40 LUTZ Pathfrinder driverless pods will be taking over Milton Keynes, UK later this year. They won’t be in the streets, though. Well, at least not at first. These new vehicles are said to occupy specific paths, just to make sure everything is safe.
Of course, we can expect the project to evolve in due time. For now, we will have to conform to set trails and footpaths. These electric pods fit 2 people, so maybe you and a friend can ride one later this year!
Opinion: The UK is really pushing this forward. Or maybe it’s just that California can be a bit picky with Google. Hopefully I can be in the UK to check out this project at some point in the near future.
Project Ara is one of the most exciting endeavors to come out of Google’s headquarters. The idea is that one would be put together a phone made of modules, allowing you to pick and choose whatever parts you may prefer. It’s a geek’s dream come true, and it seems Yezz may be helping in its fulfillment.
Google has reached out to Yezz, a Miami-based manufacturer known for making great affordable handsets. This company has been gaining traction in the USA, Latin America and Europe, which seems to have made it a great partner for Google.
Opinion: So far, Yezz has put together “about 100” module prototypes. These are said to be showcased at MWC, so you can be sure we will be talking about them when we are in Barcelona.
If what you want is battery life, look no further. This is it. You can’t really do better, especially for the price. The BLU Studio Energy has just become available. It packs an immense 5000 mAh battery and only costs $149!
Of course, you can’t expect amazing specs for that price, but the BLU Studio Energy happens to be an awesome mid-range phone. It comes with a 5-inch 720p display, a 1.3 GHz quad-core Mediatek processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage and 8MP/2MP cameras.
Opinion: This is actually a pretty awesome device for the price. I mean, it is up there with the Moto G, which is price a bit higher and doesn’t come with that amazing battery.
