Having a good weekend? Make it complete with your quick set of tech news! Spotify is invading Uber, Samsung says you don’t need to worry about the Galaxy Note Edge and Kate Upton is doing ads for mobile games.
The press has been getting invites to an Uber event to take place this Monday. It’s adorned with musical notes and states there will be a “special partner guest”. Who could it be?
If the latest rumors and leaks are to be believed, it could very well be Spotify. New reports suggest these two companies will partner up to bring a better sound to your Uber rides. Or at least better music in the rider’s opinion, as it would essentially turn him into the DJ.
New screenshots show that the Uber app will likely be the one playing the music. Uber has been asking drivers if their car has an auxiliary audio input, and the leaked screenshot seems to suggest so.
Opinion: This is a very good idea for making your Uber rides more enjoyable, and it’s an idea no one else has tackled. An Uber driver can’t possibly be able to please all his customers with “good” music, so let them bring their own.
We have heard it time and again: “I would break the Galaxy Note Edge in a heart-beat”, “this thing is so gimmicky” and “who even needs an edge display?”. Samsung has probably heard this too, which is why their latest post tries to reassure users.
In America we just got the Galaxy Note Edge yesterday, so it only makes sense for Samsung to try and convince us its new baby is worth our pennies. In a nutshell, Samsung is letting you know they have tested this device to its limits and it is safe to drops in many angles, which means the edge display doesn’t exactly make it weak.
The metal frame seems to play a big role in keeping the device safe, but is that enough? Many of you still think its a gimmicky phone. That is not the only worry, some of you actually think the edge display will bring issues and much more accidental actions. Samsung states this device has also been designed to recognize fingertip taps from palm touches.
Opinion: The Galaxy Note Edge is a very unique beast. It seems like a very fun phone, but I continue fearing I will get over the cool features very fast. This does turn the edge display into a gimmick, I guess (at least for me). Also, will Samsung sell enough of these to be able to bring more developer support (which is crucial)?
Game of War: Fire Age has become one of the most popular games in the app stores. The addictive war game has 10-50 million downloads and a 4.2-star rating, which officially makes it a winner in my book. It’s new global campaign just takes it all to a whole other level, though.
They have pulled Kate Upton over to help them with their advertising! The popular model is all the hype nowadays, so this should definitely help the app become even more popular. And we can’t deny she looks much more awesome being some kind of war goddess!

- Download Game of War: Fire Age from the Google Play Store
Opinion: On a more serious note, though, this game seems to be taking off. Have any of you guys played it? What do you think of it?
