Sony pulled out all the stops today as the pre-IFA festivities kicked off. Sony’s new line-up is jam packed with excitement from a Google TV with Sony Player to a tablet, ultrabook and Windows 8 Touch PC.
Sony Player on Google TV
Coming September Google TV will come to Germany with Sony Player. Sony is the first to partner with Google TV outside of the U.S. The processing power of the internet player allows for a variety of apps and games as well as typical TV use.
Xperia Tablet S
As expected, Sony plans to launch its second version of the Xperia Tablet S. The new version is slimmer and weighs 570 grams. The tablet will feature Android 4.03 and an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad core processor. It’s new aluminum housing gives it a sleek look. The Xperia S will have access to Google Play and Sony’s Entertainment Network. The Wi-Fi only version of the tablet will be available in early September with 16 and 32 GB options. Prices range from 400 Euro to 500 Euro, so the Xperia S isn’t exactly cheap. Later in Mid September, the Xperia S will be released with 3G in 16 and 64 GB versions. The 16 GB fetches a handsome price of 520 Euro while the gigantic 64 GB version costs 720 Euro.
It will be interesting to see how competitive this tablet can really be now that the Nexus 7 has shaken up the tablet market. Price has been redefined by Google. Will the Xperia S attract enough attention to justify the price?
