Sony just announced their latest flagship device with the Xperia Z4, at an event in Japan the first hands on photos and videos of the smartphone are emerging. Spoiler, it looks so similar to its predecessor the Xperia Z3 it hurts.
The Sony Xperia Z4 comes with a 5.2 inch 1080p display running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB or RAM. Chassis wise it is very similar to the Xperia Z3 but is 0.4mm thinner which drops the weight 8grams to 144g. If you’re keen on checking out all the device specification, head on over the the announcement here.
Since the Sony Xperia Z4 is merely an incremental upgrade of the Xperia Z3, a better camera and processor being the 2 big upgrades, you might want to check out our detailed Review of Xperia Z3 here.
We have a bunch of hands on photos for you to check out here, the biggest difference that we can see visually is that the bezel looks thinner and the metal bumper seems to be slightly darker and have a different angular finish than the previous generation. Sadly they didn’t shorten the device which was a little long with a notable amount of bezel at the top and bottom.
Right now we don’t see much reason to upgrade from the Xperia Z3, the camera test will be the determining factor. I will be very interested to see how it stacks up against the leading smartphone on the market, the Galaxy S6.
