Today we have a couple leaks and rumors from regarding Sony’s and Microsoft’s upcoming devices. Meanwhile, Xiaomi is raking in all the cash!
New images are rumored to showcase what could be the Sony Xperia Z3 and its smaller brother, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. While no specs or details are given, we can see that Sony is keeping the same design language.
Other rumors say the Z3 Compact will sport a Snapdragon 801 processor, which will be quite exciting considering most “Mini” devices tend to have lower-end specs. This may very well be the mid-sized, high-end device you are looking for!
Opinion: The Xperia Z2 happened to be one beast of a smartphone, so we can only assume the Z3 will follow suit. We have to wait and see if these devices prove to be the Z3 variations. Let’s keep our eyes open!
This morning’s reports proved Xiaomi is doing more than well, but we never thought the Xiaomi MiPad would sell out in just a few minutes! The powerful tablet was released yesterday, but it was only online for 4 minutes before selling 50,000 units and going out of stock.
These are outstanding figures, and though the numbers are surprising, they were to be expected. The MiPad features a Tegra K1 processor, a 7.9-inch 2048x1536p display and 2 GB of RAM. It is one hell of a tablet, and it only costs 1499 Yuan (about $241 USD)!
Opinion: I am hoping I can get my hands on one of these soon. I would love to see how these specs translate to performance. Not to mention, that display looks stunning!
Samsung and Google are all over smartwatches, while Apple is rumored to be announcing a said “iWatch” pretty soon. Where is Microsoft in all this? New rumors say the computer giant is planning to release a smartwatch soon.
This wouldn’t be like the smart tools the competition offers. Instead, Microsoft is banking on simplicity to try and grab the market’s attention. This device will simply offer health features by using sensors to track steps, calories and heart rate. In addition, the device would display smartphone notifications.
What really makes this device unique is the rumor that it could be compatible across all major platforms (Android, iOS and Windows Phone). The others are exclusive for now, giving Microsoft a possible advantage. Rumors say we will hear more during the 4th quarter of this year.
Opinion: I am a fan of simplicity in smartwatches, which makes this concept very appealing. Not to mention, cross-platform compatibility is one hell of an addition!
