The endless battle for the smartwatch market continues as different manufacturers find their niche markets. My favorite wearable devices are the ones with e-ink displays, and we can finally play around with the Sonostar Smartwatch.
What makes E-ink smartwatches special is battery life. We have seen products like the Pebble running for days on a single charge, and Sonostar’s device does the same. In fact, it can stay alive for 3-5 days depending on your usage.
In terms of functionality, the Sonostar Smartwatch is quite a nifty device. You can control certain applications, such as Google Play Music (shown in the demo). In addition, there is an application you can download to control which notifications and messages you can or can’t get on your smartphone.
So far the app and smartwatch are only compatible with Android. The device is available for $179 USD, which I personally believe to be a bit high. You can get a Pebble for less than that.
Regardless, it’s a neat little smartwatch we are sure many of you will enjoy. Especially those who can appreciate long battery life in a smart watch.
