The race is on! Now every smartphone company is working hard and fast in order to come up with the very first full HD smartphone since HTC introduced the J Butterfly which is scheduled to be released sometime December this year. We know for a fact that the iPhone 5 and its strongest adversary the Samsung Galaxy S3 have less than 400 ppi max screen resolution. Therefore whoever comes up with an HD smartphone will have to at least break the 400 ppi minimum. Samsung has also recently announced that they will be making an HD smartphone with a super AMOLED technology that could go as high as 440 ppi.
According to Samsung they’re working on a newer smartphone that will have similar specs to the already announced HTC J Butterfly. It will, more or less, have a 5-inch display (AMOLED of course) with resolution around 1080p resolution or equivalent to 440 ppi – Christmas is going to be in HD!
As of now the professional design team at Samsung is not saying a word about a specific release date, although MK news did mention that the company wants to sell their HD smartphones by the first quarter of 2013. It may likely be the successor of the Galaxy S3 and will probably be named “Galaxy S4” or it could be something entirely different than Samsung’s previous generation of smartphones. Unfortunately, right now all we can do is guess work but we’ll keep an eye out on the development of this HD smartphone as it is essentially the next tech sensation for the masses.
