It seems more than a new device is leaking out of Samsung’s establishments. Also in today’s news is a neat LG G Watch offer. Let’s jump right into today’s news!
We have heard rumors of Oculus and Samsung working together, but today we are getting more solid information from SamMobile. It seems the rumors were right and Samsung could be making a VR headset that is to be powered by a smartphone. Your phone would be mounted on the Samsung Gear VR and connected via USB 3.0.
When in use, the Gear VR headset would take advantage of the phone’s accelerometer, gyroscope and processor. The headset will also have a transparent button on the side, as well as a touchpad that would allow you to control your device. There is also said to be an opening for the camera, which could stream the real world to you, in case it’s needed.
Opinion: Some would say this is nothing but a glorified smartphone dock, and in a way they would be right. But think about it: we already have a smartphone that can take on any task. Ridding the VR headset of all these components will make it immensely cheaper. Let’s keep our eyes open for more details, and remember these are no more than rumors.
What seems like a movie scene became a reality for a Samsung factory in Brazil. The manufacturing plant was attacked by 20 armed robbers, who held employees hostage and took their ID tags to enter the premises. Once inside, they overpowered security and let workers continue their duty as if nothing had happened.
Meanwhile, the robbers loaded multiple trucks with what would amount to about 40,000 finished products, costing the company an average of $6 million. Brazilian authorities continue to investigate the case.
Opinion: Is this really going on? Do 7 trucks full of stolen goods really manage to just slip away from a secured building? A heist like this is no joke, guys.
Are you looking for a good deal on that brand new LG G Watch? AT&T is currently holding a 25% off promotion for accessories. There is a “but”, though. Customers must purchase at least 3 accessories to get this offer. The 25% discount would be applied to the whole amount during checkout.
You could look around for some other accessories you may need. And even if you don’t need anything, you can add a couple Body Glove sleeves or cases, which costs only $5! This would still amount to a very generous discount.
Opinion: By itself, the Android Wear device would see a $57 discount. Not bad for a $229 accessory!
