Let’s start by talking about the first thing you will notice out of this phone – the screen. This 5.1-inch display is amazing. It has an amazing resolution and the great Super AMOLED color reproduction that we have all come to love. Now, what about those edges?
Interestingly enough, these edges don’t really do much, as opposed to what Samsung did with the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. This device is not showing any extra functionality or side bars, so it is purely about aesthetics and the way the phone feels in your hand. The phone manages to look very unique, and it’s nice to be able to swipe from side to side without actually hitting a bezel or edge. It really feels like it provides more screen real estate.
Now, in terms of build quality, Samsung has made leaps and bounds over its previous devices. We still don’t believe these are the most solid devices, and the fact that it has two Edge displays makes us wonder how prone to cracked displays this phone is. Think about it: with less bezel and more screen, there are more chances of a phone cracking. Regardless, how resistant the phone is will be something we see down the line. But I love the metal frame, and the materials used are great. It feels much more solid than any other Samsung device out there.
The Samsung looks and feels much like what we have seen in previous iterations, but this is something we will go through when we get our hands on a review unit. This is just a quick and dirty first look, so enjoy the video and let us know if this is your next Galaxy!
