Oppo must have been pretty upset when they saw the Polaroid Selfie smartphone taking on the N series design. The Polaroid phone takes the swiveling camera design to create what they wanted to be an optimal selfie device. Long story short, Oppo threatened to investigate and sue if necessary.
We loaded our cameras, lights and microphones, quickly making our way to the Polaroid booth and show you just how similar this device is to the Oppo N1… except it wasn’t there.
It was the last day of CES 2015, so we thought “hey, maybe they are packing everything to leave Vegas”. We quickly noticed the Polaroid Selfie was the only device pulled from the shelves, though. Now an empty spot lays there, completely unoccupied.
But it seems they did the hiding in a rush, though, as they left behind a back cover as evidence. Of course, we took all the pictures we needed for our own little collection.
This clearly means Polaroid wasn’t thinking things through and they realized it was a mistake to release a phone so similar to the Oppo N1 and its swiveling camera. Come on, guys – we don’t really believe their engineers simply had the same idea in terms of camera technology and design.
We are not sure what is going on, exactly, but you can be sure we will be keeping you updated on the matter. Maybe they are taking it back to the drawing board, or maybe they simply want to avoid confrontations and get ready for court. What do you think is the case?
