We may all have our eyes pointed at Barcelona for MMC, but that doesn’t mean tech news has stopped on this side of the world. In fact, the guys at Pebble are living large with their Pebble Time Kickstarter campaign after getting over $13,700,000 in funding.
This is not only a large number, but it actually makes the Pebble Time campaign the most successful Kickstarter has ever seen. It’s followed by the Coolest with about $13.3 million and the original Pebble with $10.3 million. Keep in mind the Pebble Time campaign has 24 days to go, so Pebble still has a long way to go before the cash stops adding up.
This is not the only Pebble news for today, though. I got a pretty neat email from Pebble this morning, telling me about a special little something that was added to the Kickstarter campaign.
Pebble Time Steel
Yes, the Pebble Time Steel has been added to the campaign and it can be yours if you pledge $250 (it will retail for $300). Of course, you can expect an improved design, which includes the use of better materials like steel and leather.
The casing is made by CNC-finished 316L stainless steel, while the strap is made of premium leather or stainless steel, depending on your choice. So the watch will look gorgeous – that much we know. It’s also 1 mm thicker, but the real improvement is that this thing can now give you up to 10 days of battery life. That’s insane!
No other smart watch manufacturer has accomplished this, so we gotta give it to Pebble for what they are doing.
Oh, and don’t worry if you have already signed up for the lower-end Pebble Time, you can go an upgrade your pledge. Check out the Pebble Time Kickstarter campaign for all the details.
