Starting at $300 and sporting awesome specs, the OnePlus One will naturally be compared to another Chinese smartphone – the Xiaomi Redmi Mi3. Both are super affordable and come with comparable specs, but which one will be the best device to have?
The OnePlus One is taking more attention from the global market, but Xiaomi’s Redmi Mi3 might also be a good option for you. Let’s jump right into the main differences.
Design and build quality
Both smartphones are very well-built and reasonably good looking. This is quite surprising for OnePlus, as their first device is already catching up to some of the most popular manufacturers in terms of design. Honestly, both phones are just as sexy, but I happen to prefer the OnePlus One’s looks.
Of course, the OnePlus One is much bigger with a 5.5-inch screen. This is a beast compared to Xiaomi’s 5-inch screen. But we must give it to OnePlus One for makign a device that isn’t that much larger, even if the screen is 0.5 inches larger.
The OnePlus One is a bit thicker, making it seem more sturdy, but the Xiaomi Redmi Mi3 is definitely more portable.
Both devices are available ranging from 16 GB to 64 GB of internal storage. That is about as close as these devices get in terms of specs, though. The OnePlus One carries a Snapdragon 801 processor, while the Xiaomi sports a Snapdragon 800. In terms of RAM, the OnePlus One also beats Xiaomi’s device with 3 GB, as opposed to 2 GB.
These both have 13 MP rear-facing cameras, but the OnePlus’ 5 MP front-facing camera definitely takes on the Mi3’s 2 MP shooter.
Both devices will have pretty similar battery life. The OnePlus One sports a 3,100 mAh battery, while the Xiaomi Redmi Mi3 has a 3,050 mAh battery.
Xiaomi’s Redmi Mi3 will cost a bit less with a $250-$270 price point. We do believe the OnePlus One does have the edge over Xiaomi’s high-end smartphone, though. It will also not cost much more, with the options ranging from $300 to $350!
