OnePlus, Alcatel and LG are making headlines with their brand new products. Will you be buying one of these?
OnePlus probably put together the most elaborate April Fools joke I have ever seen. They have been teasing a “game changer” for weeks, touting it to be a huge product. It was recently revealed this was all about a drone, but we were still expecting something… bigger.
Turns out the OnePlus DR-1 drone is a super tiny drone that measures in at just 70 x 28 mm. It has a 100 mAh battery and can fly for 5-8 minutes on a single charge.
Even though this was a joke, the drone became available for purchase this morning. The bad news? It’s sold out. And since this is a limited edition product of sorts, it probably won’t be coming back. I would have loved to buy one at only $19.99, though.
Opinion: Really, this just feels more like a slap in the face to me. I understand there’s fun in April Fools, but this was something fans were expecting for a long time.
We were quite surprised when we checked out the Alcatel Onetouch Watch at CES 2015. Only in person can you realize this watch is not only good looking, but despite not using a popular software it works pretty darn well.
Those who like the watch as much as we do can now go ahead and pre-order it straight from Alcatel’s website. As expected, the price is set at $149.99 This also happens to be a rather affordable price point, especially compared to its Android Wear competition.
Opinion: This is a great smartwatch for the price, but I would honestly rather go for a Pebble Steel. It’s all a matter of preference, though. Maybe you really want a backlit display!
We have been hearing about an LG VR headset being on the works for a while, and today we finally get official news about it. Here’s how the deal works: any new LG G3 customer will get this VR headset for free, in the USA. The bundle will also include a QR code for a free VR game.
So, what is it that makes this headset unique? For starters, it’s made specifically for the LG G3, so it’s a bit of an exclusive. But let’s keep in mind this is pretty much a glorified Google Cardboard headset.
Opinion: To be honest, I wouldn’t recommend jumping on this deal right now. The LG G4 is about to be announced, which makes the LG G3 a bad option to opt for at this moment. Let’s see if they offer something similar for the new iteration.
