Today’s news gets hot as Huawei, Sony, Vivo and AT&T make headlines. We have new devices, upcoming events and awesome freebies, so stick around!
Huawei sends out invites for New York event
Huawei continues trying to pierce the American market and it seems they are getting ready to introduce a brand new device. The Chinese manufacturer has been sending out press invites to a New York City announcement to take place come June 2nd.
We have no idea what phone this could be, or what it has to offer. All we can see is a few glimpses at parts of some kind of smartphone press render. Can you guys tell what it could be?
Opinion: Huawei is having a hard time enticing US customers to jump on their bandwagon. It’s a bit sad, because they actually have pretty awesome affordable smartphones. I have to wonder what this announcement is all about, though. Will things get better for the Chinese phone maker?
Sony Xperia A4 announced in Japan
It seems Sony is putting a lot of focus on its home country lately. They announced the Xperia Z4 only in Japan, even though it’s known for being a popular global device. Today the company is actually announcing a Japan-exclusive device, though. They call it the Sony Xperia A4, a powerful phone with a lower price when compared to the Z4.
Specs include a 4.6-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a 20.7 MP rear camera, a 2.2 MP front shooter and a 2600 mAh battery. Add a waterproof, IPX5/8 construction and you have a winner!
Opinion: The most interesting part of this announcement was probably hearing about Xperia Z4 availability. Sony mentioned the flagship device was to be released in June. In Japan, of course.
Vivo X5 Pro announced
Remember that Vivo phone we saw leaked over the weekend? Well it has been announced and it’s looking like quite a pretty cool mid-end gadget.
This is the Vivo X5 Pro, a phone with a Snapdragon 615 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and a 5.2-inch 1080p display. Also packed inside is a 2300 mAh battery and a 13 MP camera paired with an 8 MP front shooter.
Opinion: I suppose the impressive part is that this phone is super thin at only 6.4 mm of thickness. We are also disappointed to see the battery size, as the rumors said this phone would come with a massive 4150 mAh battery.
AT&T customers to get free Hulu content
Need a good reason to stick with AT&T? Maybe their partnership with Hulu will entice you to stay with Ma Bell. Interesting partnership, right? But what will we get out of it?
It turns out AT&T plans to offer its subscribers some free content from Hulu. Sadly, this won’t really give you access to full episodes. Instead, users will get access to short clips and quick content. They are even thinking about the possibility of bringing the Hulu app to televisions.
Opinion: Short clips and videos? Next!
