Today we have nothing but great news and awesome devices. Google, Sony, LG and Samsung are taking the stage, so tune right in.
I almost went nuts when I took a loo at my inbox this morning and saw an email titled “An update on Project Fi invites”. Turns out I am not in yet, but Google was sending this email to let us know they are working hard to get everyone on board.
If everything turns out as planned, Google should finish sending out invited by mid-summer, which is really not too long to wait. They are also letting us know they are coming up with a way to check the status of our invite. It will be available “within the coming weeks”.
Opinion: I am super stoked about Project Fi. If you don’t know much of Project Fi, please go and learn all about it now. It’s truly revolutionary.
A flurry of event invites is circulating around Asia. These events are to take place in India, Taiwan and Hong Kong. We are not sure of what could be coming, but rumors say it could be related to the Xperia C4, Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia Z3+.
One of the events happens to be a bit more interesting, though. The Hong Kong invites talk about a “new Xperia flagship”. What could this be about? This specific event takes place on May 28th, so be sure we will let you know next week.
Opinion: We are big Sony fans here at Mobile Geeks, so we are hoping they can make up for the lackluster Xperia Z4. But hey, maybe they are just re-announcing it in new markets. Who knows!
We have been begging carriers to give us official release dates for the LG G4. We managed to get some information out of them, but nothing as official as what Sprint is doing. The Now Network will be officially launching the LG G4 on June 5th.
The device will be priced at $599.99 off-contract, or you can get it for $199.99 on a 2-year contract. You can also lease it or use Sprint Easy Pay to deal with monthly payments, instead.
By the way, pre-orders begin today. For a limited time, Sprint is offering a free extra battery, a charging cradle and a 32 GB microSD card, so jump on it soon if you know you want this phone.
Opinion: So it’s safe to assume other carriers will get the device soon too, right? Well, I am hoping. I am not about to join Sprint, that’s for sure!
So we have been hearing a whole lot about that Iron Man edition of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Edge. It looks awesome, even if a bit to flashy for some. The point is many of us would give a lot to have one of these, and next week you may be able to.
At least that is what Samsung is telling us with a teaser image they posted on their Facebook page.
Opinion: Not much else to say here. We just wanted to give you a peek and tell you this version of the Galaxy S6 Edge is coming soon.
