LG has been sending out press teasers for an announcement – what could we be dealing with? I think we all know. The OnePlus One is also ready take on the world with general availability coming in June. And for all the gamers in China, you will finally be able to purchase an Xbox One!
LG has just taken then main stage, one whole month ahead of the announcement they are sending teasers for. They don’t specify what they will be announcing, but if I was in Vegas I would put all my money on the LG G3.
The device has been surrounded by rumors, leaks and was even confirmed by LG, itself. In its earnings report, LG hints that the G3 should be released this quarter, so we are almost certain we will be seeing the device at the San Francisco, New York, London, Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul events by May’s end.
The teaser simply says “To be simple is to be great”, so we are assuming LG is focusing on a simplified design and UI.
Opinion: LG’s G series holds the manufacturer’s best smartphones, and we can expect the G3 to be the best of the bunch. The new Q2 release schedule is odd, though, and I have to wonder how it will work out.
Other G series devices have done great because they come near the end of the year with superior specs compared to the competition. Will being released so close to the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 help?
The OnePlus One has managed to be one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year, but not many of us can purchase it yet. First, only 100 “smashers” will be able to get it. These customers will then be able to hand out invites and let their friends join the fun.
The invite system will take some time to pan out. What we want to know is when the device will be more generally available, and OnePlus has finally shed light on this matter. OnePlus says they will continue using the invite system, but that it will be much easier for people to get an invite by late June.
“Later in June – Increased general availability, people who want it should be able to get an invite without much trouble in June”
Opinion: I wonder if we will ever be able to just walk into a store and buy a OnePlus One. With its price and specs, this device has the potential to be one of the most popular smartphones in the world (hell, it’s already getting there). OnePlus might be trying to take the careful route, though.
Xbox One coming to China!
The gaming community is strong in China, but it’s sad they haven’t been able to enjoy gaming consoles for a long time. These devices have been banned until recently, and Microsoft is getting ready to take its Xbox One there this September!
This would make the Xbox One the first mainstream console to be released in China since 2000! Microsoft is said to partner with Chinese company BesTV to sell the console. They also plan to release the Xbox One in 26 other countries that day, making it a celebratory date to circle in many calendars.
Opinion: It surprises me to learn that the Chinese haven’t enjoyed a mainstream console for so long. We are sure many will be glad to learn about this. I know I would be getting in line as soon as it became available.
