Kickstarter is full of amazing, ground-breaking products from small companies that aim to have their projects funded. Some make it, some don’t. Regardless, it’s always good to see what the inventors and innovators have to offer. We plan for this to be a recurring post, giving you a glance at the best Kickstarter campaigns around. Curious? Let’s start with a few.
We can all praise Kickstarter and its projects, but very few of us actually take the plunge and fund products we won’t see in our hands until months later. I have personally never funded a Kickstarter project, to be honest, but this one really stole my blogging heart.
It’s a desk. An autonomous desk. It’s pretty much what you get if you mix an AI assistant and an automatic stand desk, but it offers much more than that. Of course, it can remember your preferred heights for standing and sitting. It can also detect when you get close to the desk and take necessary actions, like come to a specific height or turn on the lights.
The automated system is called Taylor and it’s operated via voice. It works with services like LIFX, WeMo, Nest, Yelp, Google, Twitter and more, allowing you to easily ask your desk to do a plethora of smart actions. It also has an awesome design that allows you to rest your arms, USB charging ports, a wireless charging station, a bag hanger and speakers.
This things must cost a fortune, right? Nope! You can get it for as low as $399 if you back the project through the Early Bird special. I am signing up for this one, guys. I mean it. Are you?
Project Ara has the world going nuts with the idea of a modular smartphone you can upgrade on-the-go. What if this idea could be applied to other devices? That is what nexpaq aims to do. The nexpaq is a case that can be easily upgraded with modules.
Just like with Project Ara, you ca buy separate modules that do all kinds of nifty things. They have already put together a series of modules that include extra battery power, speakers, an LED flash, an SD card reader, a hot button, a breathalyzer and more. But this is only the beginning, the company hopes more developers can bring on their own ideas.
The case pretty much works like a Mophie case. You slide your phone in and you are ready to go. Simply open the app and get to the action. It’s coming to the iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Samsung Galaxy S5 at first. You can get the consumer version by backing as low as $109. It’s definitely worth a look, guys.
And since we are on the topic of smart home products, we thought the Bruno trash can needed to get a mention. This is a smart trash can that can send you notifications regarding trash days, your amount of trash bags and more.
Not smart enough? How about adding a vacuum section that allows you to dump your dust pan. Just sweep your dust right into the whole under the trash can and you are done. The unit will vacuum it all up for you.
It’s a pretty simple concept, but it’s one that will change your life.
