Many of us would say Asia is the future home of tech. We are seeing this market revolutionize mobile and this week’s news proves it. Let’s dig right in!
Asia is trying to pierce through every market it can, and MediaTek is easily the leader in chip manufacturing within the continent. Today they have announced a new processor that will power a new breed of high-end smartphones and tablets – the MediaTek Helio X20.
The Helio X20 is special in that it comes with 10 cores and a 3-cluster architecture that will allow better handling of processes while keeping energy efficiency at its best. One cluster will have two cores running at 2.5 GHz, which will take care of extreme performance tasks like gaming.
The other two clusters will run four cores each. One will be used for medium loads at 2 GHz, while the light activity cluster will be running at 1.4 GHz. Launch is expected by the end of the year, so you can be sure we will be seeing a multitude of Asian devices adopting this new technology in 2016.
Opinion: MediaTek is currently known for making low-end processors, but things are looking very promising for the chip maker. I am willing to bet that in the coming years it will become a significant competitor to big guys like Qualcomm, NVIDIA and Samsung.
Meizu is keeping Asia busy with constant device releases, and the latest rumors say more is coming very soon. To be more exact, we have been hearing about the Meizu MX5 and Meizu M2 Note being in the works for a June 30th and June 2nd release, accordingly.
So far we know very little about these devices, so you will be glad to learn that a couple renders have hit the internet. These images are interesting in that they display what seems to be a bezel-less screen. There seem to be no borders on the sides. They also retain that circular home button Meizu phones are known for.
Opinion: These are looking mighty gorgeous. We just have to find out what they are carrying inside. I also worry that a borderless design will cause more accidental touch functions while holding the device.
ASUS has released the new ZE551ML Zenfone 2 as a limited offering to the Indian market. It’s a bit special, and it seems the Indians were eagerly asking for it. IT sports the 1.8 GHz Intel Atom processor seen in the lower-end version, yet comes with 4 GB of AM.
It also comes with 32 GB of internal storage and is priced at Rs. 18999, which equals to just under $300 USD. Our fellow Indian geeks can get this device straight from Flipkart now!
Opinion: The ASUS Zenfone 2 is going to be the next Moto G, guys. This thing is so good, yet so cheap! I kinda wish I as in India!
