While the arrival of the Xiaomi MI3 might have dented its stature as the most desirable, mid-range handset in India there is no denying the fact that it still is a hot purchase. The phone is still available on Flipkart in its 16 GB avatar. However, if you wish to get the Moto G, this is your last chance to buy one as the phone is being discontinued. That’s right. Flipkart has clearly mentioned on its Moto G landing page that the current stock of its 16 GB Moto G handsets are the last of the lot. You would not be able to buy this phone once it goes out of stock this time.
How worried should you be about this?
Not much, I say. Why? Because there is a reason why the Moto G is going out of stock. Motorola is readying the launch of the successor to the Moto G in India soon. The device, known as the Moto G2 would be launched in India on September 5, 2014. In fact, the company has started sending out invites for the launch even already, which would be held at New Delhi. Motorola is also expected to launch the Moto X+ 1 at the event – although this is not confirmed at this moment.
Meanwhile, Motorola is tight lipped about the features of the Moto G2. It is not expected to be very different from the existing Moto G version and with come with a few upgrades. There is a possibility that the display size on the upgraded Moto G could be bumped to five inches. Other expected improvements would come to the 8 megapixel rear snapper and the processor. Nevertheless, if you were planning to get yourselves a Moto G, it might not be a bad idea to actually stall your purchase since you would be getting a better phone once the Moto G2 is launched.
In the meantime, you might as well try your luck to get yourselves a Xiaomi MI3 which is increasingly becoming more difficult to get with each sale.
