The new Liquid E3 Smartphone from Acer has a distinctly mid-range flavor to it. Its 4.7” 720p HD display is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core SoC from Tawianese silicon vendor Mediatek and like several devices in this category, it sports a rear facing 13MP camera. But what makes it stand out from the crowd, is that its front-facing 2MP camera features a built-in flash making it the real deal when it comes to taking selfies. Check out our hands-on video at Mobile World Congress 2014.
It’s interesting to see that Acer, like many of today’s mobile device vendors, have put a great deal of emphasis on the camera. Few devices in the past have integrated a real flash on the front-facing camera, but with more and more people actually using the front facing camera for, yes you’ve guessed it, taking selfie’s! For many of the younger generation, the front-facing camera is arguably the one they using most, so it makes sense to see improvements made to help improve the quality of the pics you can produce in this way.
It’s also noteworthy to see that the Liquid E3 is also a dual-SIM phone (a feature I’m personally happy to see on more and more devices this year at MWC), and also easy accessesing your own media with a sideloading microSD slot. The Liquid E3 also features a button on the back of the device which allows you to turn on the device with one press, or directly access one of your installed apps with two presses – kind of similar to features on the newer LG phones.
