Microsoft is taking over this afternoon’s news with two hot rumors. Meanwhile, OnePlus One users have an awesome update to look forward to!
Microsoft’s upcoming “selfie phone” just can’t stay off the news. We first heard word of it nearly a couple weeks ago, when Stephen Elop first mentioned it to investors. Last week we even got to see the first set of image leaks, but today we have something a bit more official.
Microsoft has started sending press invites for a September 4th event, at IFA. While the invitation itself doesn’t show us much, there is a small hint making us suspect we will be seeing the “selfie phone”. The invite asks us to join them “for more face time”, which more than likely means what we are assuming it does.
Opinion: Microsoft is onto something with this 4.7-inch 720p phone with a 5 MP camera. It should be priced competitively and come with a great build quality, as well as that powerful front-facing camera.
Windows Phone has introduced a new digital assistant to the world – Cortana. This mobile application currently stands as a great competitor against Siri and Google Now, even if its platform’s lack of popularity pushes it back. What if it was to expand to the most popular desktop OS, though?
The latest rumors indicate Microsoft is planning to bring Cortana to Windows. Currently code-named threshold, Windows 9 would be where Cortana first lands in the desktop market. The update is said to come later this year, so we won’t have to wait long to see if this rumor is true or not.
Opinion: Today’s trend is to bring mobile and desktop platforms together. We need to blend the lines between computing categories and make for a universal experience – it’s the next step in mobile.
A new update is blessing OnePlus One users today. The device has finally reached Android 4.4.4, an update that brings features and fixes users will appreciate. Among the improvements is the addition of “Clear Image” a camera mode that will do just what its name entails. You will also get updated versions of Google Apps and better color calibration on your screen (colors will now look colder).
Opinion: You can see the full list of improvements and fixes at OnePlus’ website. You should be getting your update very soon. If you haven’t yet, it wouldn’t hurt to try and check for updates in the settings.
