Microsoft is releasing the cheapest Lumia device, Telsa solves range anxiety and HTC makes some of the weirdest, yet pretty awesome commercials.
Unless there is an obvious inclination towards other operating systems, I usually recommend Lumia devices to those looking for a good super cheap smartphone. The lower-end Lumia smartphones are pretty cheap. And because they run on Windows Phone, they actually run pretty well.
Today, Microsoft announces what they are calling their “most affordable Lumia to-date”. It is the Microsoft Lumia 430 and costs only $70 USD! The device packs a 4-inch 800 x 480p display, a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 6 GB of internal storage, microSD support, 2MP/0.3MP cameras and a 1500 mAh battery; all powered by Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia denim. Oh, and it has dual-SIM capabilities.
Opinion: You really can’t go wrong with specs like these, guys. This phone is a total winner. We know it will make many casual users very happy.
There’s plenty of reasons why Tesla vehicles are so amazing, but one of the main ones is that it can be improved via software updates. Your car could become faster and smarter with an OTA update. Elon Musk has been teasing a new feature for those who have “range anxiety”, and today they are revealing it.
Tesla calls it Range Assurance, and it comes with the Model S’ 6.2 update. It’s pretty much a system that warns you when you choose a route your vehicle won’t be able to live through. This takes into account the company’s charging network, other vehicle trajectories and even things like elevation and wind resistance.
Either way, the point is it makes a very well-educated estimation, and warns you if you are going out of range. The user would have to confirm the selection twice, hence making it impossible for drivers to accidentally run out of range.
Opinion: I suppose this is only a problem for those who want to travel far distances in one seating. This update should come in handy, in that case. Other improvements include the addition of automatic breaking during unavoidable collisions and side-collision warnings.
HTC and Robert Downey Jr. are known for making some of the oddest HTC One ads, but this time they really hit the ball out of the park. A new set of commercials promoting the HTC One M9 has been released. They are dark, quirky and funny at the same time. It’s like a mixture of Alice in Wonderland with Donnie Darko… kind of.
You can take a look at them at the official HTC page, but I have embeded my favorite one right below.
Opinion: I have to say my artistic side loved these videos, but I feel like they also make a really bad job at showing you what the HTC One M9 can do.
