Microsoft and Apple are all over today’s news, bringing some of the most interesting news for the day, and probably the month.
Every good service has its end, and Microsoft believes some Internet Explorer versions have reached their EOL (End of Life). It’s very simple, and free, to update to the latest version of IE for your operating system, so Microsoft just wants you to stay up-to-date.
Starting January 12, 2016 (which is still a long ways from now), Microsoft will no longer support the Internet Explorer versions listed below. This means no security updates or technical support.
Opinion: Sometimes we fall in love with certain operating systems or software versions, but ultimately we have to move on and follow the changes. I do prefer the newer IE versions, though.
Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia will bring some awesome advantages to the manufacturer, but it’s not looking that exciting to the company’s workers. Microsoft is planning to lay off about 18,000 workers, a transition that is not going very smoothly.
To ease the pain, Microsoft has decided to give away a Lumia 630 to any Chinese worker who voluntarily leaves the company. Those who fear they will be fired anyways can now walk out with a shiny new phone!
Opinion: Finding a new job can be a challenging feat in this economy, but the world always seems better with a brand new smartphone!
Apple’s acquisition of Beats has been accepted and completed, meaning the Cupertino Giant is ready to get working! The first step is Apple’s new section in the Apple Store, which now includes a Beats by Dr. Dre section.
You can find all Beats products within the Accessories section. The Beats section is divided into headphones, in-ear headphones, speakers and accessories.
Opinion: I couldn’t help but notice Apple gave the Beats Pill Dude its very own section, which I find to be quite comic.
