T-Mobile is not the only one selling the LTE-enabled Nexus 9 today, and HTC has started selling the special cover. BlackBerry also has some surprises for you.
The LTE-enabled Nexus 9 was first released this morning by T-Mobile, but the Un-carrier was not the only one planning to launch the data-capable tablet today. The Google Play Store is following right behind T-Mobile.
The Google Play Store has the tablet available for $599, just short of a dollar cheaper than T-Mobile. You will have to wait a bit longer if you go with Google, though. The Nexus 9 page says the device will start shipping on December 19th.
Opinion: The Nexus 9 is one hell of a tablet, but as I said earlier, I think $599 is a bit over-priced. Are LTE capabilities worth well over $100?
Need some accessories for your brand new Nexus 9? Aside from the keyboard folio, HTC has now started selling its Nexus 9 soft shell case. It’s a very unique cover in that it features a very interesting and functional design. HTC says it’s “origami-inspired”, because it can fold in various ways to become a stand.
You can now get the soft shell case for $39.99 in Coral Amtheyst (blue and turquoise). Go purchase it at HTC’s website.
Opinion: While these types of covers don’t really offer much protection, they are quite the novelty. I would say they are much more about function, which is what makes them valuable.
Are you still using BlackBerry Messenger on Android? If so, you will notice there is a very neat update for you today. The BBM app has received a much needed set of improvements, bringing it up to speed with the industry.
Additions include Android 5.0 support, group chat stickers, timestamps for sent pictures, a new 60-second timer, landscape mode and the ability to add attachments from your SD card. Go get the update from the Google Play Store!
Opinion: I know very few people who still use BBM, but it’s nice to see the company is keeping up with it. Some of these are pretty basic features, though. It feels like they should have been there from the get-go.
