It’s all about the touchscreen with Windows 8, so what do you do if you don’t have one on your device? Logitech just introduced a new Touchpad and touch mouse which will allow you to pinch, swipe and scroll to your heart’s content. It’s the mouse reinvented in a more tactile form.
First up we have the Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650. It takes the idea of an ultrabook touchpad and adds a few special Windows 8 motions. It has a glass surface and no buttons, so you can click simply by tapping anywhere on the touchpad. It also recognizes pinch, swipe, scroll and gestures for revealing the charms bar.
The Touchpad can recharge through a USB and Logitech claims it will last one month on a single charge. At $80 it’s hardly a cheap accessory, but in lieu of buying a new device with a touchscreen it seems a good option.
Next is the Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 that looks deceptively like an ordinary mouse. It also has a glass surface enabled for gestures such as scroll and tap for the charms bar. In addition, this mouse can behave like a normal mouse and has side rubber grips. The mouse is wireless and can last fro 18 months. It’s also decidedly less expensive at $50.
Finally there’s the Touch Mouse T620 which is entirely covered in a touch surface capable of Windows 8 gestures. It looks like a smooth skipping stone and even the edges are sensitive to touch. This mouse will cost you $60 and gets 6 months of battery life.
