LG is getting ready to bring Android 5.0 to its USA G3 devices, Google Fiber could come to North Carolina next and CommandWear teams up with Pebble.
The LG G3 has its faults, but it is still an awesome smartphone. It is about to become even better, as LG has just announced via Twitter that the Korean manufacturer’s latest flagship will get Android 5.o Lollipop “soon”.
This news comes from the LG USA Mobile account, which leads us to believe they are referring to the American version, specifically. Also remember that different carriers will get the update at different times, but the unlocked versions should be first in line.
Opinion: Android 5.0 is a pretty large update, so users should be getting a fresh breath of air and an improved experience with this update. Maybe some of the known issues will finally be fixed!
The USA has many things to worry about, but one of the most important topics for geeks is where Google Fiber will make it to next. Those in North Carolina may be getting their prayers answered next week.
Google is said to have some events in Raleigh and Durham next week. The topics to be covered are still unknown, but an anonymous source has it on good authority that it’s all about Google Fiber coming to the Triangle area. Preparations could start as soon as April, if all goes well.
Opinion: Every involved company and organization declined to comment, so right now it’s all really a coin toss. Luckily, it’s not long before we find out the truth. Now the real question is: when does Google Fiber come to San Diego?!
Pebble is one of our favorite smart watches here at Mobile Geeks, so we are always glad to see the company being pushed into new markets and ventures. Today we are seeing a new partnership with CommandWear, which has announced a new multimedia situational awareness platform.
This platform is geared towards emergency response workers. The idea is to provide simple and quick communication between first-aid responders, firefighters, police and more. The Pebble smart watch will help these life savers communicate with central command in a seamless manner.
What makes the Pebble the perfect device for CommandWear? The company makes sure to point out that it offers tactile feedback for noisy environments, it’s easy to glance at, it’s durable and offers unparalleled speed.
Opinion: Being able to respond as quickly and efficiently as possible is paramount for this market. It could mean the difference between life and death, and we are glad to see technology helping the world. Even if others are using it for wrong doing.
