Lenovo shed some great news for Motorola and Android fans today, but they also have great news for others. The company has revealed they plan to release their very first Windows Phone later this year, as well as a wearable towards the end of 2014.
The manufacturer has been looking into Windows Phone for some time now, following Nokia’s success in the new mobile platform. We have even seen leaks and rumors on a new device, but nothing ever came to fruition.
Today, Lenovo is telling us they plan to release a Windows Phone this year. This goes parallel with recent rumors of a Lenovo Windows Phone said to be announced “early in the summer”. Microsoft also announced Lenovo as one of its new Windows Phone partners, so the idea seems very feasible.
In other news, the company is also getting ready to release a wearable. We don’t know what kind of wearable we could be dealing with, but it should be launching either by the end of the year or at CES.
We don’t know whether they plan to launch this wearable as a Lenovo or Motorola-branded device. After all, the Moto 360 is on its way. Will Lenovo really compete against itself? Not sure, but there is quite a bit of time between now and CES. Many things could happen by then.
