I know, that’s a lot of quotations for a single headline, but if you can move past that we’ve been hearing about an Amazon phone in Taiwan for about a year now, so it’s really not news to us. However, we were wondering when they would unveil it, CTIA in October was a big possibility as many were saying today’s event would only be about the Kindle Fire 2.
The Verge has just published a story claiming multiple sources have verified the existence of the smartphone. We’d like to corroborated that story with component suppliers informing us of amazon building several prototypes with various display sizes.
What has also emerged is that Amazon will be following in the footsteps of the crippled Kindle Fire OS which limited the consumers ability to customize their Android tablet. This forked version of Android forced users to use the Amazon shop for apps and was geographically bound to the US, so now one outside the country could make use of the device.
Amazon has also forced a close alliance with Nokia so it’s safe to assume that Nokia Maps will be apart of their platform.
We will be live from the Amazon event so stay tuned for comparison videos from Armando!
