Google is not alone in the news – Apple has just announced some new iPod Touch prices. Project Tango got its first manufacturer and the Android L Developer Preview is now available.
Apple’s newer iPod Touch devices seem are great, but their high prices have kept some people away. Apple is finally fixing this by giving its WiFi media players a good price cut. Starting Thursday, the 16 GB will go down from $229 to $199. The 32 GB and 64 GB versions will sell for $249 and $299, relatively.
This means you can save up to $100 on an iPod Touch. Apple is announcing you will also have more color options, including pink, yellow, blue, silver and space gray.
Opinion: It’s great to see Apple finally lowering those iPod Touch prices. I must honestly say they were over-priced since launch. Yes… even considering Apple pricing standards.
Project Tango may be one of the most interesting assignments Google has taken under its wing. The tablet comes with sensors and cameras that will allow it to map their environments. The idea seems a bit far-fetched, but now we know LG plans to bring them to market next year.
LG is partnering with Google to make a Project Tango tablet and release it sometime in 2015. Why would consumers want this, though? Project lead Johnny Lee gives us a very interesting example: “Imagine if the directions to your destination didn’t stop at the front door, but to tell you exactly where to go and what to do.”
Opinion: Indoor navigation would actually be an amazing idea. Google Maps has been experimenting with indoor mapping, including malls and other public places into their repertoire. Will we see Project Tango taking advantage of this?
Google has kept their promise and the Android L Developer Preview is now available for Nexus devices. To be more specific, the software is available for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013, WiFi). You can go ahead and download them straight from the Android Developers website.
Opinion: As always, we have to give you the disclaimer. Remember this software preview is meant for developers and will come with its issues. Don’t expect a full experience and remember you may harm your device if you don’t know what you are doing.
