It’s been a fantastic week here at IFA 2014 in Berlin, with a remarkable number of product launches, announcements, events and unveillings happening daily. Our very own Nicole Scott has taken a moment to offer us a round up of all the major happenings from the week, with a special focus on the larger trends that have emerged.
Over the last decade or so we have seen the IFA show in Berlin gradually displace CeBIT as the main European Technology trade show. The actual name of the show is ‘Internationale Funkausstellung’ which simply means International Radio Show, a throw back to the old days. when in 1924 it literally was a radio broadcast talking about technology. The massive radio transmitter still sits in the center of Berlin’s Messe exhibition and conference center, but today the only broadcasts happening are youtube videos from bloggers and tech journalists like ourselves.
Nicole has experienced many IFA Berlin shows over the years so she is in excellent position to give us her interpretation on this weeks product launches, and the general trends that they represent. Catch our IFA Round Up video below:
The great about IFA, aside from being held in Berlin Germany, one of the coolest cities in the world, is the sheer breadth of the show in terms of products. We have seen everything this week; from automated washing machines, to the latest Huawei phablet, we have seen it all. Our focus has been primarily smartphones, tablets, notebooks and wearables, but there has been so much to see we could never have hooped to cover it all. It’s been a great week however – one to remember.
