The closer we get to the iPhone 5 launch this September, the more we find out about the device. Now at IFA in Berlin we got up close and personal with an iPhone 5 case from iCandy.
iCandy informed us that they received the specifications and dimensions of the infamous iPhone 5 from a manufacturer whose information has proven to be true in the past. Their source was correct about the specifications of the iPad 2 before its launch. iCandy feels confident that this case is a legitimate representation of what we can expect from the iPhone 5 when it is released in September.
The case certainly lives up to our expectations and the most plausible of the rumors. iCandy’s iPhone 5 case is approximately 4 inches diagonally and very thin– thin enough to be approaching the 7.5 millimeter rumor. The case also featured a wider, more oblong opening which would accommodate the new back camera with LED flash.
In comparison with an iPhone 4 case, the iPhone 5 case was clearly longer and leaner. When we put the iPhone 4 in the new iPhone 5 case, it clearly didn’t fit. The extra room at the top of the case confirmed that the iPhone 5’s display will be around 4 inches. iCandy’s case didn’t give us any insights into the rumors swirling around the new dock connector, but we’ll find that out soon enough. For now, check out our hands-on video of the new iPhone 5 case:
