Huawei Y3 hands-on: a very capable smartphone for only 79 Euros

Huawei announced a set of three new smartphones at MWC 2015, of which the Huawei Y3 happens to be the most affordable. This little guy will only cost 79 Euros! Super cheap, right? But is it worth your hard-earned cash and the spot in your pocket? Let’s see.

Huawei Y3 specs

  • Android 4.4 KitKat
  • 4-inch 854x480p display
  • 1.3 GHz quad-core Mediatek processor
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 4 GB of internal storage
  • 5 MP rear-facing camera
  • 2 MP front-facing camera
  • 1730 mAh battery
  • Dual-SIM
  • 133 x 68 x 9,5 mm
  • 153 grams

This phone is actually pretty cool for a 79 Euro device. The handset carries a pretty bright screen, even if the definition is pretty low. It’s manageable for very casual users who don’t care about having a great experience and just want a phone to take care of basic tasks.

The phone is not super fast, but it does work relatively well. You get the expected lag and slower transitions, that’s for sure. But then again… 79 Euros. As for the rest of the device, it actually looks and feels pretty good for a super low-end gadget.

The Huawei Y3 will launch later this month for the mentioned price. It may be a good gift to get for your non-techie friends and family!
