Have you ever seen a 7-inch smartphone? They are pretty rare, but the few out there are not really worth taking a good look at. This is why we couldn’t wait to check out the Huawei MediaPad X2 at Mobile World Congress. This is the first time I see a 7-inch smartphone I actually kind of want.

Right off the bat you can tell this smartphone… tablet… thing has quite a bit of power. The processor is not as popular as what you may see in other smartphones, but it offers ample power and it never seemed to lag while we tested it. And with 3 GB of RAM you are sure to get very good multi-tasking power.
Of course, we can only talk so much about performance. It works well, but what we like more about the device is on the outside. For starters, the screen is pretty gorgeous, coverin about 80% of the front side of the device. It also happens to be very bright. It looked very well at the amazingly lit press room, something not many other phone makers can accomplish.
Take a look around the device and you will find this device is solid. The Huawei MediaPad X2 is made completely of meetal and has no loose pieces. It doesn’t bend, wobble or anything, something that is special for a smartphone this large. Let us tell you, this thing looks and feels great. In fact, this phone looks a bit like an iPhone 6+/HTC One M9 hybrid, except bigger.
No news on price and availability yet, but do remember its predecessor, the Huawei MediaPad X1, was released for 399 Euros. We assume the price range will stay within that realm.
