MWC is almost here and HTC is getting us all warmed up with their teasers. Meanwhile, Google is working hard on a Wallet relaunch and a new YouTube app for kids.
With Mobile World Congress right around the corner, some of the biggest and baddest phones of the year are nearing their unveiling. Among participating manufacturers is HTC, a company we are expecting quite the show from. What will they be announcing? Rumors say there may be a couple devices in the works.
So far it’s all rumors and leaks, but today HTC has taken it to Twitter to give us a tease of what could be coming. The Taiwanese manufacturer states “something HUGE” is coming. What could it be? Likely that HTC One M9 Plus that was recently rumored. We are not sure, but HTC is also giving us a bit of a math problem that could lead to the answer. Check out the tweet below and try to solve it.
Opinion: I can’t say I know what they are talking about, but if you please let us know if any of you math erudites can figure it out.
Something HUGE is coming from HTC. Imagine [number][big thing] in space. And then [math term] that by [number]. #Madlib

Google may have started the mobile payments movement, but time has proved that Apple clearly controls that market now. Google Wallet has since fallen behind, along with ISIS and every other competitor. What gives?
If the latest rumors prove correct, Google is not ready to call it a day and is planning a major relaunch for Google Wallet. A new report from the WSJ cites internal sources and claims Google is working on pushing out a “revived” version of Google Wallet. Mountain View is said to be working with an “unruly coalition of device makers, wireless carriers, banks and payment networks.”
It’s also said Google is now willing to give participating parties a much more significant portion or revenues, which would further entice them to join the party.
Opinion: Google seems to be serious about this. And though Apple has a lot of power, so does Google… and so do dollar bills. Let’s hope Google has something to announce at their IO developer conference. But tell us, guys – how many of you use mobile payments? And if you do, which is your service of choice?
We live in an era in which kids learn to use the internet before they even learn how to read. I always found it interesting, as the internet is composed largely of words, but somehow these kids manage to surf through the web without a problem. And kids are a huge market! This is why things like toy reviews are so successful. Don’t underestimate the little ones, as they are changing the world already.
But we all know the internet is no safe place for a child either. This powerful tool also happens to be uncensored, which can result in a dangerous digital world for youngsters. The market continues to evolve as we see more kid-friendly devices and services emerge – Google wants to be part of this.
A new report states Google is ready to cater to parents and kids with YouTube Kids, a new app focused around infants. This application will be safe from any innocence-stealing content and will even offer voice search for kids who don’t know how to write yet. You can expect strong parental controls and other parenting tools. The app is said to launch on February 23rd, so let’s keep our eyes open for more details.
Opinion: While I am all for letting children see the world as it is, it’s also true that the nasty things we can find online can be a bit too much for certain ages. I would definitely prefer talking to my own kids about sex and similar topics in a healthy, controlled way. Wouldn’t you agree?
