Now we know what HTC could be announcing at MWC. In other news, today is the last day to get Google Glass and tomorrow you can get the OnePlus One with no invite.
We know HTC is holding an important announcement at MWC, but today we are getting clues of what this event could be all about. Bloomberg is reporting on an internal source that claims the Taiwanese manufacturer is ready to launch a new flagship device, as well as the company’s first smart watch.
The rumor suggest the phone will come with a 20 MP rear-facing camera, an UltraPixel front-facing shooter and “improved audio. As for the watch, it is said to link with Under Armour’s fitness service, which makes their recent partnership much more reasonable.
Opinion: More details will surely be unveiled as we near March 1st. I happen to love that the UltraPixel camera is being taken to the front side of the phone. That is really where the technology can be taken advantage of. Also, we know many of you have been begging for an improved rear shooter on the HTC One line. This is looking good, but remember tot ake it all with a grain of salt.
Last week was not a very bright one for those planning to join the Google Glass Explorer program soon. The Search Giant has decided to shut down the program and focus on polishing the product and bringing it to market as soon as possible. Suddenly we were all left with a date that would mark the end of Explorer sign-ups.
That date happens to be today, January 19th. If you have $1500 laying around and really want to test Google Glass, you best head to the Google Play Store now. You won’t have another chance until the wearable actually makes it to market.
Opinion: Google Glass, as it stands, is still in its infancy. In a way, I am glad Google decided to pull it from the Play Store for a while. They really need to work on it and make some sizable improvements. We should see a much more refined and focus result when the time comes.
I woke up with one of the sweetest emails waiting in my inbox, today. It was from OnePlus, and they were letting me know I could buy the OnePlus One with no invite tomorrow!
As expected, though, the phone will only be available for a time window of 2 hours. In North America we will be able to get it from 7 to 9 PM Eastern. OnePlus is also displaying times for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Europe on their website, so we can all have our fun here.
Opinion: Expect the site to be congested and full of geeks trying to get a OnePlus One. I would be there on time to try and save myself a good spot. Who is signing up for a OnePlus One tomorrow?
