The economy is tight and we know we are all looking to save a few bucks, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice buying your goodies. There are great affordable devices out there and one of them is the HP Stream 7, a Windows 8.1 tablet that will only cost $99!
Needless to say this will be a hit this holiday season, and we just had to get our hands on it and take it out for a spin. Let us tell you, the device feels, look and works great for a $99 tablet. Let’s check out the specs before anything else.
HP Stream 7 specs
- Windows 8.1 with Bing (32-bit)
- 7-inch 1280x800p IPS LCD display
- 1.3 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3735G processor
- 1 GB of RAM
- 32 GB of internal storage
- 2 MP rear-facing camera
- 0.3 MP front-facing camera
- 3000 mAh battery
The works very well. The screen is bright and though 720p is no longer the standard for good screens, it looks very good for the price. It also happens to be a very bright display.
Overall, performance is what you can expect from the specs. What makes this little tablet enticing is that it does come with Windows 8.1. This means it can take care of all your mobile needs, but also does sport a full desktop OS. It will support full desktop apps, so long as the specs can handle it.
In terms of build quality, the device looks like a normal slate. It flexes a bit, but nothing deal-breaking (I mean come on, it’s $99!). The back does attract some finger prints too, but with the price HP couldn’t really afford to use high-quality plastic either.
Overall, we say it’s a great buy, considering the price. It will be a great gift for the holidays. Those interested can buy it in the USA right now for $99. It’s also coming soon to Europe for 129 Euros. Not bad at all!
