Android Wear devices have just been released. We know you probably won’t be factory resetting your smart watches anytime soon, but we wanted to create a guide for you to come back to whenever you are ready. You may want a fresh start at some point, or maybe you will be handing it over or selling it at some point.
Whatever the case may be, wiping your device will keep your device clean and your privacy… well, private. Android Wear is set to be among the most popular wearable platforms around, so we are sure many of you will be looking for this tutorial. We wanted to help you out and show you just how a factory reset is done on Android Wear.
It’s actually a very simple process, but there is usually no manual on how to do this (at least not an easy-to-find one). Just make sure you back up all your important information and files. Also remember this will only wipe your smart watch, not whatever information may be in your phone. You will need to pair your Android Wear device again after the factory reset process is complete.
Also make sure your device is plugged in or charged before you start this process. It’s never good news to have a device die during a factory reset. With all those disclaimers out of the way, let’s jump into the process!
How to factory reset an Android Wear device
- Wake up the Android Wear device (tap on the screen).
- Touch anywhere on the background and a white screen with a red “G” will show up.
- Touch anywhere on the screen and a menu will show up.
- Scroll until you find “Settings” and select it.
- Find the “Reset device” option and tap on it.
