We have gotten very used the Android L moniker, which the search giant has been calling its upcoming Android version since Google IO 2014. It’s time we re-wire our minds, though, as that name will not be sticking around for long. The desserts are coming back!
We are expecting the new version of Android, along with some new devices, to be announced any day now. We are all dying to learn all about the news, but Google is giving us a little something to tease us until then.
The Android team has released a funny video in which we can see the team holding dessert auditions. Participants include Lemon Meringue Pie, Lava Cake, Lady Finger and Lemon Drop. At one point you even see an Oreo. And those who are observant enough may have noticed the guy dressed as a lettuce, which was pretty hilarious.
The favorite “L” name so far seems to be Lollipop, which would make for a very catchy moniker. Oddly enough, this dessert didn’t even make it to this video. Did Google leave it out on purpose? Is it not even an option anymore?
Google has been quite the troll lately. They seem to love having fun with our enthusiasm and are often playing with our feelings as they are today. If I was to put money on a name, I would say Lollipop still has the best ring to it.
Out of the ones listed in this video I would choose Lava Cake. What do you think will be the name of the next Android version?
Regardless of the name, it will be one awesome upgrade. Probably the biggest one we have seen in a while. Android L incorporates Material Design, which is an amazingly sleek and good-looking UI. It’s also meant to unify your experience across all screens, blurring the lines between your many devices.
You can check it out in the video below. As for the official details – stay tuned. The announcement is coming, and it’s coming soon.
