We have already shown you the Dell XPS 13, our favorite laptop at CES 2015 so far. The device is amazing, making it very easy to choose it over most laptops out there, but there is another decision to make – will you choose a glossy touchscreen or a non-touch matte screen?
Of course, it all depends on what you prefer. We like the matte display because at Mobile Geeks we happen to spend a lot of hours in front of a computer. It won’t look flashy and colors will be a tiny bit washed out, but it will be very comfortable on your eyes in the long run.
Meanwhile, the clear glossy screen does look much better when it comes to viewing media. The addition of the touchscreen will also make it a much more interactive device for the consumer.
Oh, and another main difference is the fact that the glossy version sports an edge-to-edge display. The matte Dell XPS 13 has a thin plastic bezel all around the screen. Not something that will really make a huge difference, though.
At the end of the day it’s all about preference, but there is one more important factor to consider. Because the matte display components are less and more affordable, Dell is able to save money on the production of the matte screen iteration, therefore transferring the savings to you.
The matte Dell XPS 13 starts at $799, while the touchscreen version starts at $1299. Quite a big difference there! Check out our video comparison and let us know where you lean more towards. Do you prefer matte or glossy?
