BlackBerry 10.3 will soon be introduced and with it comes a new virtual assistant. We are also taking a look at the hottest wireless charger we have seen. All while T-Mobile is trying to win the accessory war.
BlackBerry is showcasing its new Assistant software ahead of the their 10.3 software upgrade, which will launch with the BlackBerry Passport. In a nutshell, it’s everything you can expect. It competes with Siri, Cortana and Google Now as a digital assistant for mobile devices.
BlackBerry has to differentiate itself somehow, though. The dying mobile manufacturer is planning to bring BlackBerry Assistant near-full control over the phone’s functions. You can change your notification settings, for example, or mark certain messages as unread.
Opinion: Details continue to be scarce, but we doubt a cool digital assistant and a square form factor can really save BlackBerry at this point.
Switch is seriously the sexiest (and I don’t use that word often) wireless charger I have ever seen. It is made of sustainable materials and brings a design unlike any other, offering both elegance and functionality.
The plate that holds the device offers a micro suction material that keeps your device in place while charging it. The angle also offers functionality by allowing you to utilize your device while it keeps getting juice.
You can learn all about it in the Kickstarter campaign, which has reached its goal, by the way. Pledging won’t come cheap, which means this dock/wireless charger will also be among the most expensive around. You can pledge $170 and walk away with a Switch charger.
Opinion: The nicest wireless charger is also the most expensive around. Such is life, but this will definitely look good in a nice office.
T-Mobile new plan is to win the accessory war by allowing users to walk out with them with $0 down. Magenta is now selling accessories in installment plans, allowing you to pay their full price over the course of 2 years.
What exactly can you get? The carrier’s accessory portfolio has a wide variety of products, including smartwatches and expensive bluetooth speaks. Not to mention, head phones and other goodies.
Opinion: This is a great opportunity to get some nice gear in payments. Or you might want to wait and see if they will carry Android Wear products soon!
