The holidays are approaching and we know many of you are starting to get your shopping lists together. We know it’s hard to pick the right gift for everyone. Especially if you are trying to get something for those special techie girls in the family.
Thankfully for you, we know exactly what may make these special people happy. Check below to see some gifts that techie women may enjoy. Also, not all of them are super expensive. There’s something here for everyone.
A new smartphone or tablet!
OK, so these are a bit pricier, but you can never go wrong with a new smartphone or tablet. Maybe this would be a gift for that special techie girl who deserves a bit more. Let’s try to stick within a reasonable price range, though.
Phones and tablets no longer have to be expensive to be good. I have written articles on the best smartphones and best tablets around, but I usually recommend a couple very cool products – the Moto G and the ASUS Transformer Book T100.
The Moto G is small and affordable at $179.99, but don’t let its price and size fool you. This phone can definitely take care of work, and it does it well. In addition, we know many of you like customizing your phones. You can replace the back covers with colorful plates.
Another affordable device is the ASUS T100, a netbook/tablet hybrid that sports Windows 8.1. This means it can run full desktop apps, making it great for work, school and even fun.
A wearable fit for a woman
There is one sad part about wearables – the industry doesn’t quite cater to women yet. Some cool devices have been showing up, though. You can see them all in our Best Wearables for Women post.
If I have to choose one wearable to recommend, though, it would be Intel’s MICA. This cuff offers an LCD screen with great smart features, as it also pairs with your smartphone. It will be launching before the end of the year for $495 at Barneys.
Of course, not everyone has that kind of money, though. Those who want a cool, small wearable fit for a girl’s wrist may want to check out the Pebble and Pebble Steel. Pebble just happens to be our favorite smart watch maker.
A good battery pack
There is nothing techies appreciate more than long-lasting battery life. Sadly, not all phones have this, or they don’t have enough of it, so we need to compensate with rechargeable battery packs. These will keep our devices running for longer, even if it can be a bit annoying to have to be plugging them in all the time.
One of my favorite happens to be the Juno Power HUE Pro. This battery carries a 10,000 mAh battery thatwill keep your devices running for a good amount of time. It can charge two devices at once (one port is 1A while the other is 2.1A) and it even has a flashlight.
Now, if you are not worried about pocket-ability we have a very interesting product for you. It’s called the LUXA2 P-MEGA portable battery and comes with a whopping 41,600 mAh battery. It is a beast. It’s also large, but it makes it a perfect companion for road trips and camping trips. It’s also not cheap, though.
A purse for the techie ladies
Also, a battery pack doesn’t have to be your average accessory. The guys at Everpurse have managed to make one of the coolest techie female accessories. This purse has an integrated charger for your iPhone or Galaxy S4.
The bag is made of premium materials and looks very good, aside from being an awesome tool. It also offers a seamless experience, as the battery inside can be charged wirelessly. No need to plug in your bag every night. It’s also about $250, though… so not the cheapest.
Talking about charging – how about a wireless charger?
Have you ever noticed that your phone’s USB port starts running out after some good use? Of course, you are shoving cables up the phone every single day and this is expected. This is why I happen to like Qi wireless chargers… and also just because they are damn cool.
If a person’s phone or tablet is compatible, a Qi wireless charger can be an awesome gift. I have also put together a list of the best wireless chargers in the past, but I know I can recommend one. It’s actually the one I use – the Tylt Vu.
The Tylt Vu doubles as a charger and a stand for your phone. You can watch movies and use your device while it continues to get juice. I love it.
Great sound for rocking out
If I had to choose, though, it would be the Plantronics BackBeat GO 2 bluetooth earbuds and the SuperTooth Disco 4 D4 speaker. These products offer a great balance between affordability and performance. They are not super expensive and get the job done very well.
Streaming frenzy with Chromecast
Of course, we can’t forget about the Chromecast. At only $35 (and yes, there are some Black Friday deals), this little HDMI dongle turns your phone into a remote control for your TV, which essentially becomes a smart TV. Easily stream your videos, images, music and more to the large screen.
If all else fails, get a gift card!
Of course, techie girls probably already have awesome devices. Good content is never bad, though. You could easily get your tech geek a nice gift card so he can buy all the apps, movies and music he wants.
