AUO has just announced a 4.46 inch display that has a 1mm border and a high resolution of HD720 and 317ppi. They are able to achieve this thin profile through their proprietary super narrow border technology and low temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) method. The display itself uses AMOLED, IGZO and AHVA (Advanced Hyper-Viewing Angle) technologies.
AUO is also introducing a ultra-slim high resolution 10″ IGZO display with an enormous 2560×1600 screen resolution. The panel itself is only 1.5mm thick which allows for extremely thin devices.
AUO already has a Full 1080 HD 4.97″ display featuring AHVA that is already in production with an impressive 443ppi.
AUO is a Taiwanese display manufacturer whose name may have entered your news feed because they have supplied Apple with display’s for a few generations of their iPads. Today they are proving that they have what it takes to be more than just an overflow supplier, they are looking to take leadership in the display space.
