Ready for your weekend news? We have some new devices you can get from US carriers, as well as an accessory that Xbox One users will love.
The Fire Phone hasn’t been the hottest device at AT&T, but the carrier still keeps its faith on Amazon. AT&T has just started selling the Kindle Fire HDX 7, a neat little tablet that many of you will find useful.
The tablet can be purchased on monthly payments for $10 without a down payment. Another option would be to buy it on a 2-year contract for $99 after signing. An off-contract 4G LTE-enabled version will cost you about $279, so this is not a bad deal.
Opinion: It’s hard for me to commit to a tablet that revolves around Amazon so much. I am just so invested on Google that I wouldn’t find it convenient. We know some of you use Amazon services a lot, though. This may not be a bad choice for you.
LG and US Cellular have new devices for you – the LG G Pad 7.0 and the LG G3. The former is an affordable tablet with modest specs, yet it’s a great tablet with a design that will awe many. To make matters better, the tablet is only $99 on a 2-year contract.
Those who want a smartphone with a little (or a lot) more power can take a look at the LG G3 (read our review here). It launches this Monday… also for $99 on a 2-year contract! Now that is a deal, guys. In fact, it makes the G Pad 7.0 seem expensive.
Opinion: LG’s new US Cellular devices are both great, and we know many of you will be excited to see the LG G3 in the portfolio. It took a while, but it’s better late than never, right?
Microsoft was forcing the Kinect on Xbox One users for a while, an included sale that seemed unreasonable to many fans. Microsoft’s latest accessory may help you make more use of that Kinect sensor, though.
In fact, this is not just a new product, it’s more of a new project. This adapter allows you to connect the Kinect to any Windows computer or tablet. Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 computers will then be able to take full advantage of Kinect’s components.
They have also announced the Kinect SDK 2.0, which would allow developers to build Windows apps that will work with the Kinect. These will become available from straight from the Windows Store, just like any other app.
Opinion: You can get the adapter from the Microsoft Store for $49.99. The price may seem high for a cable, but it will add some great functionality to your Windows computer in the near future. Kinect on a computer sounds like a lot of fun.
