We are here at IFA 2014 in Berlin where ASUS has just made their debut in the wearables space with the launch of the ASUS ZenWatch, a very attractive Android Wear smartwatch that will be available for 199 Euros when it comes to market. Watch Mobile Geeks get an early hands on with the ASUS ZenWatch.
The ASUS ZenWatch will be one of the most attractive smartwatches on the market when it arrives, hopefully in the next few weeks. Watch the video below where Sascha gets hands on accompanied by first impressions of ASUS’s first attempt in the wearables space.
The ZenWatch has a slightly convex 1.6 inch LED display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. Its bright screen that responds well to touch navigation and looks good running a custom version of Google’s Android Wear with a wearable version of ASUS’ Zen UI.
The ASUS ZenWatch will be compatible Android 4.3 devices and above and offers several in-built apps that allow you to view incoming calls, messages, notifications, and other important information. The ZenWatch however is optimized for ASUS smartphones with an enhanced experience on ASUS Zen UI smartphones. These features include Watch Unlock, Tap Tap, Cover to Mute, and Find My Phone.
By far the most attractive aspect of the ZenWatch is the chiseled aluminum chassis that is pretty thin for a wearable smartwatch. It’s also reasonably lightweight and is compatible with standard watch straps so you can easily customize the look of the device.
The ASUS ZenWatch will retail for 199 Euros, although the company has yet to disclose details regarding expected arrival dates.
