ASUS dropped hundreds of jaws at CES, when they unveiled what could very well be the king of affordable smartphones in 2015. The ASUS ZenFone 2 starts at $200 and has specs that even some “higher-end” handsets are envious of. The device has been going around the world and today the Taiwanese company brings us this same device to the USA.
ASUS’ own chairnan Jonney Shih took the stage at New York City this morning, letting us know what we pretty much were expecting – ZenFone 2 availability. The phone will come in two options, one costing $199, while the higher end is appraised at $299. The main differences lie in the processor, RAM and internal storage. Here are the specs:
ASUS ZenFone 2 specs
- 5.5-inch 1080p display
- 1.8 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 / 2.3 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3560
- 2/4 GB of RAM
- 16/64 GB of internal storage
- 13 MP rear-facing camera
- 5 MP front-facing camera
- 3000 mAh battery
This is a stunning phone for the price, really. We have spent some good time with it and can tell you all about it in our hands-on post and first impressions. If you are not sure whether this is the right phone for you, just give those a good read.
I will personally start recommending this phone over the Moto G, to be honest. And Motorola’s popular affordable smartphone used to be my favorite device to recommend to casual users looking for something affordable.
When and where can I get the ASUS ZenFone 2?!
OK, so now that we have given you all the details, let’s jump into what you really came in here for. When will you be able to get your hands all over an ASUS ZenFone 2?
ASUS plans to release the phone in the USA in four available colors: red, black, gray and silver. The most affordable one will be priced at $199, while the one with 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage and 2.3 GHz processor will run you $100 more, at $299.
It launches tomorrow (May 19th) from Amazon, Groupon and Newegg. Who is buying one?
