Lenovo has come out with a tablet and keyboard combination that looks a lot like the Microsoft Surface 4. we will tip our hat that they’ve done a polished and more refined job, but it does scream clone. Mobile Geeks was at the Intel press event at IFA 2015 in Berlin and took some side by photos, keep reading to find out how they’re different.
The Lenovo Miix 700 packs in up to an Intel Core M7 processor, which unfortunately makes it a better match with the low-powered Surface 3 than the Surface Pro 3. It comes with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. When it comes to display you have a 12 inch 2160 x 1440 larger display while the Surface 3 comes in at 10.8 inches with a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080). The Miix weighs in at 1.7 pounds which is lighter than the 1.95 pounds on the Surface 3.
The Camera on the rear is an significant upgrade since it’s a Real Sense depth sensing camera at 5MP which is the same resolution as the front facing camera. The Surface 3 checks in at 8MP on the rear and 3.5 on the front.
The kickstand and keyboard are the biggest improvement on the Surface 3 design, Lenovo is using the same watch band hinge that folds all the way back to 160 degrees giving you more viewing angles on the tablet, if you don’t have your keyboard you’ll be able to use the on screen keyboard since it folds all the way back to the furthest angle.
The keyboard on the Miix 700 has me itching to get a hold of one, it’s exactly what you expect from Lenovo, it actually feels like a real keyboard not a foldable one.
The Miix 700 starts at $699 and will start shipping in November.
