Ideebank Mic: A portable karaoke machine

Who doesn’t love karaoke?

Whether you can carry a tune or are completely tone deaf, it’s almost therapeutic to belt out the latest pop hit or retro classic. And, karaoke establishments the world over have been an enabler, an escape for everyone looking for this kind of artistic outlet.

Coincidentally, karaoke technology hasn’t improved much since the late 90s when it first became a thing.

One company, however, hopes to change that.

At Global Sources Startup Launchpad in Hong Kong, the folks at Ideebank let me take their new karaoke microphone for a spin.

The mic itself has speakers built in so while you sing into it, audio also comes out, loud enough to fill a room. The quality of vocals is designed to mimic the sound of a traditional karaoke machine.

You’ll need to source your own music and can stream them via Bluetooth from your smartphone or computer. You’ll also need to bring your own lyrics or know the songs by heart. But, considering that there are plenty of Karaoke video tracks on YouTube, you’re one step away from a private karaoke session.

The microphone charges via USB-C, takes about 1.5 hours to charge, and should last you a four-hour solo concert.

Global Sources is a tradeshow where companies look for distributors, so if you’re keen potentially distributing this product or just can’t hold back and really want to pick up a sample shoot a message over to sales (at) Ideebank (dot) com.

If you can’t wait and just have to pick one up today we’ve like to suggest the Amicool Portable Karaoke Microphone, it’s good quality and only $29.99 on Amazon, where is has a 4.5 Star rating and over 200 reviews. It’s easy to see by the design of this top-selling mic how Ideebank’s solution has a superior form factor.

The Amicool is compatible with both iPhones and Android smartphones, PCs, home theaters and can also act as a Bluetooth speaker. It comes with a built-in rechargeable 2600mAh battery that will last you around 8 hours and will take between 2 to 3 hours to recharge. To summarize some of the Amazon reviews, users love its quality sound, light design (1.2 pounds), great pricing, and that’s it’s pretty easy to customize.

StartUp Launch Pad sponsored travel and accommodation, all thoughts and opinions are my own. It’s a great conference that happens in Hong Kong twice a year, it’s focused on distributors sourcing new products in China. It’s a great place to get an early look at what’s coming to the mass market. Since China manufacturing prowess is undeniable, attending the show gives us valuable insight into market trends.
