The best gift for the budding Photographer or YouTuber in your life

Smartphones are taking over the camera market for everyday shooting, but they’re still not good enough for those who take their content creation seriously. If you’re looking for a gift for someone who is into landscapes, filmmaking or vlogging, they’re going to need a decent compact or mirrorless camera.

Top of my list is the Sony ZV-1, it’s been in my pocket the last few months and it’s easy to use and verstalle. It’s also great for those who have to shoot alone!

Sony ZV-1

If you have an aspiring YouTuber in your lift who has maxed out what their able to do with their Smartphone, the ZV-1 is specifically designed for vlogging. The Sony ZV-1, a compact camera that’s lightweight, easy to carry and packed with vlogging features. The flip-out display is great for setting the frame on your own. It also has a high quality microphone, phenomenal autofocus that has sharp, punchy, color accurate 4K 30p video. There is even a few unique features like background defocus and “product showcase” which you won’t find on pricier cameras. The downside is that it has a fixed lens, it has a 24-70mm lens that’s great, but you can’ upgrade to more cinematic lenses. That being said, it’s a great camera that is easy to use, delivers
usable, solid results with great image quality.

Sony A6100

If you’re looking for something that will let you make professional level content, but it’s overkill for someone who is early in their career. Not to say that I’m a Sony fan girl, but I do tend to favor their cameras.

The Sony A6100 hits above it’s price point. Sony is best-in-class for autofocus, fast 11 fps shooting speeds, sharp downsampled 4K 30p video, detailed and color-accurate images, excellent low-light performance and a flip-up display for vlogging. It’s compact and lightweight and you can step up your game with lenses! Lenses for shooting devices, or ones that make your skin look amazing! Combined with a touchscreen, there’s no camera that makes it so easy to get so many of your shots in focus, whatever the situation. NFC also makes image transfer simple!

the a6100 provides a camera that can do a decent job in a remarkably wide range of situations, with minimal need of expertise on the part of the user, and in a body format that makes it easy to keep with you. That’s a pretty powerful combination.

Rode Wireless GO

Rode does mics, and it does them well! The Rode Wireless GO just works, it’s plug and play, and you don’t have to worry about anything but making the video! You won’t have to scan channels because it has a 2.4GHz frequency band. The transmitter, which measures just 44×45.3×18.5mm and weighs 31g, has a built-in omnidirectional mic and clip that enables it to clip on anywhere. The audio quality is superb and the battery life is long enough for most jobs, if not, and its flexibility of USB-C charging means you can plug it into a power pack on the go.

It’s a no brainer for video shooters.

Neewer LED Light Stick

The NEEWEE LED Light Stick has a unique light bar design has 60 long-lasting LEDs, which can last up to 10,000 hours with high luminosity and a colour temperature of 5500K. If you want to transform the color temperature of one or several panels to a warmer tungsten look, you can do so with the included orange filters. The adjustable tripods are perfect for photography or video and can be adjusted from 64cm to 200cm. The brightness is controlled via the adjustment knob set on the power supply. With the extra long charging cable, you can move the light comfortably in your studio. The only down side to these is that they’re not battery powered but the price is right!
