Android TV Launcher will have no issues with timely updates. Talking about updates, Lumia users just got a nifty one. Meanwhile, North Korea wants to prove its innocence.
Got yourself a Nexus Player (or any other Android TV, depending on when you read this)? One of Google’s biggest promises on Nexus devices is timely updates, and you sure want that advantage from your Android TV device.
By releasing the Android TV Launcher to the Google Play Store, Google makes sure it is able to push updates on that specific system app without having to push a whole system update (which used to be the case for system apps). Improvements are as simple as an app update.
Opinion: Manufacturers like Motorola and HTC have been employing this method for a while, and I can tell you there is no better way to go about things. Especially in the USA, where it takes forever for carriers to approve a system update.
Microsoft (previously Nokia’s) Lumia devices are known for their great cameras, but most of them have yet to adapt to next-generation resolutions. The Denim update has started hitting Lumia smartphones and 4K video recording happens to be one of the main improvements.
Other changes include the improvement of camera speeds, the addition of Rich capture and an improved imaging algorithm, making your images crisper. There is only one issue – only 4 Lumia devices will get this update. This includes the Lumia 830, Lumia 930, Lumia Icon and Lumia 1520.
Opinion: 4K recording is still a bit of a touchy subject, as most people don’t even have 4K displays. If they do, there’s also the struggle of finding compatible services and devices. Going 4K is not easy (or cheap), but as the industry continues to adopt it the situation will improve.
The Sony hack, and everything that came with it, was a huge topic at this week’s news conference from USA President Barack Obama. And of course it did… the situation evolved as far as making terrorist threats and referencing 9/11. But even though the FBI swears this was all planned by North Korea, the country’s government claims that is simply not the case.
In fact, they have proposed a joint investigation with the USA, as Obama mentioned the USA “would respond” to this attack. Of course, North Korea didn’t do this without giving the USA a hit, too. North Korea is demanding this joint investigation. If the USA refuses and continues to blame North Korea, there will be “grave consequences”.
Opinion: Well things just got a tiny bit serious, didn’t they? Now both countries are threatening each other with “responses” and “consequences”.
